Green Lane Subway

Like Woolborough Lane subway (upgraded by Manor Royal BID in 2015) this subway was also scruffy and unwelcoming. The BID identified this as an area needing investment to make a significant difference. Manor Royal BID commissioned Community Clean to deep clean, strip back and repaint the subway walls, soffits and wings, ready for a professional mural by local artists Ginger Moo.
Green Lane Subway is one of two subways that connect the residential area of Northgate with Manor Royal. This one is towards the western end and connects the off-road cycling and pedestrian Magpie Walk on the Manor Royal side to Green Lane on the residential side. Red – Zone 3
Working collaboratively with businesses in Manor Royal, Ginger Moo created artwork based on the theme 'Environment', with local businesses giving direct input into the designs. The final design combines elements of business activities and industry represented in Manor Royal with themes of nature, sustainability and community.

Magpie Walk takes its name from the wooded area that forms part of the nearby Digital Realty site, formerly Glaxo Smithkline and Beechams before it. The wood is called Magpie Wood and is a protected woodland area.
On the Manor Royal side to the east is Crompton Way where the first industrial buildings of Manor Royal were built, long since knocked down and replaced with more modern commercial units.
